Closets are one of my favorite projects to work on in a home. I have been working on a lot of them recently and I wanted to quickly share two very different spaces. They both needed to be organized and were done so in very different ways.
The first is a master dressing room that had two separate closets within one large room. The client had a ton of great space but just needed some help when it came to finding a place for everything. This closet was a quick fix. One trip to Target for a few things and a day of work made a huge difference.
This next closet was definitely a bigger project. It was in my daughters room and it was in desperate need of a mini-renovation. We wanted a closet that could grow with her (she is only 9) and one that could withstand a lot of wear and tear through the years. We also needed one that could accommodate all of her clothing so she wouldn't need a dresser in her room. For these reasons we chose to install the Elfa system from The Container Store and we are all very happy about the results. From start to finish this project took several weeks to complete and was a bit of an investment but totally worth it!
Both of these closets are great examples of what Placed can do for you. Whether it's a small project or a bigger one I would love to help you get to the "after" photo you are hoping for! Call/email today to schedule a consultation!
As a professional organizer I am always trying to find the best solutions for people who need help containing the clutter. I am also a firm believer in the fact that the product is not always going to solve the problem, but sometimes you just need that perfect container to help contain your stuff! It's also a huge plus when the product ends up having several different uses. All of the products listed are things I have used in my own home as well as in clients homes. Here are some of my favorites.
I have always lived in an old home and often times my clients are living in old homes as well. I absolutely love the charm and character that an old home has but one thing that I am never a fan of is the tiny closets! I have become very good at keeping my wardrobe under control but no matter what the seasons change and inevitably we all need a place to store our out of season clothing. These boxes are wonderful. You can stack a few on top of each other on a shelf in your closet to save space and the clear front allows you to see what is inside. The boxes pictured below are from The Container Store but any sturdy garment box will do. You can find them at TJ Maxx, Marshals or HomeGoods as well.
This case is made by Sterlite and it is under $10 at Target. I use these cases all of the time. If there is one piece of storage I would recommend to anyone it would be this case. It is super inexpensive but has a million uses. I've used it to for Lego storage, art supplies, a first aid kit in the car, even hardware and the list goes on and on. The best part is that the inserts are removable. I took them out of one case, and now I use them in my junk drawer to keep things in order. The possibilities are endless and with a great price you really can't go wrong.
I love using containers in the pantry. It's a great way to keep track of what you have and what items are running low. It is also keeps your pantry looking neat and clean. These Oxo Pop containers from The Container Store are my favorite to use when working in a clients pantry. They fall under the category of you pay of what you get. They are a little pricey but the quality is amazing and they will last forever. I have tried to go the cheap route when it comes to pantry storage but I always end up regretting it. The cheaper versions just don't last as long and never work for the space. It's definitely worth it to spend a few more dollars for these containers. You can also find them at Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond and Crate and Barrel.
I originally purchased these photo storage cases to hold photos that I had actually printed. They are great for that purpose but unfortunately since I rarely print photos anymore I quickly realized I could use them in so many other ways. I have used these to hold art supplies, hair accessories, Lego storage, office supplies and even to hold cash and credit cards for our pool/beach bag. They are great because they are clear so you know exactly what is inside and they hold up really well.
If you follow Placed on Pinterest I have a board featuring more of my favorite products. Anyone have any organizing products that they just can't live without?? Leave a comment, I'd love to hear about it!
